After a limited indoor season due to injury, South Portland's Danny Guiliani has come back strong this spring in the throws.

Saturday at the Maine state track and field championships, Guiliani took another big step forward. While Guiliani didn't set a PR, he finished first in the shot put, breaking the Class A record with a throw of 67-03.25.

Guiliani shattered the old record set by himself last year of 62-08.25. He also finished second in the disc (164-08). He currently has the fourth furthest throw in the country (71-1.5).

Led by junior Sam Rusak, the Scarborough boys won the Class A team with 84.50 points. Rusak won the pole vault (15-06) and high jump (6-feet).

In Class A girls, Falmouth tallied 75 points to win.

Cheverus' Emily Turner was one of the top standouts, claiming the 100 (12.70), 200 (25.92) and ran an A state record 400 time of 56.57.

Lewiston senior Adela Kalilwa claimed the A long jump title in a record leap of 18-03.75.

In Class B, Foxcroft Academy boys (71) and York girls (68) wn team titles.

Belfast senior Drew Nealey broke a 25 year old Class B pole vault record, clearing 14-07.

Zackery Haskell of Gray-NewGloucester claimed the 100 (11.25) and 200 ( 22.60). His 200 time was a facility record at Mount Desert High School.

Yarmouth sophomore  Luke Laverdiere won the 800 (2:01.34) and 1,600 (4:21.94)

Trever Gray of Waterville set a facility record in the disc (163-08) and won the shot put ( 49-06.75).

York senior Katherine Bullock set a facility record in the long jump (17-02), while Emma Egan won the high jump in a facility best 5-4.

In Class C action, it was all Orono, as the boys and girls swept the team titles.

Orono junior Tia Tardy was impressive, winning the 800 in a Class C state record time of 2:13.03 and ran on the 4x4  that won in a class record time of 4:05.

Orono junior Jake Koffman set a Class C record in the disc (189-09) and finished second in the shot put (52-02.75).

The Orono 4x800 team of Jacob Fandel, Matt Keresey, Jonathan Steelman and Tristan Butterfield set a C record, running 8:17.36.
